In the series "Stewart Couldn't Save the Universe"« Another original cast member has died. It's another brutal twist for fans of the original sitcom in the new spinoff of "The Big Bang Theory," just three episodes after the new series premiered on HBO Max.

Wil Wheaton talks about his death on "Stewart Couldn't Save the Universe.".

The actor's character, a representative of the Wizards Guild of America, died in a magical duel with another main character, Burt (Brian Posehn), in the series' third episode. Wheaton attacked Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) for unwittingly helping Bernadette regain her demonic form after she was stripped of her powers and expelled from the guild. Burt intervened to protect Stuart from Wheaton's fire attack, sparking a brawl that destroyed much of the comic book store and ended with the death of Wheaton's character.

Wheaton told Deadline that when he first received the script, he had little information about its content. "I remember being sent the script, and I read it, but I didn't understand most of it because I hadn't seen anything else," he said.

He said he only realized he'd be playing the wizard after trying on the costume, but that was it. After reading the fireball fight scene, he took a photo of it and sent it to Bill Prady with a simple thank-you note.

Wil Wheaton also detailed how the death scene was created on the set of "Stewart Couldn't Save the Universe," working closely with visual effects supervisor Tom Mahoney and Posehn to plan and coordinate the fight.

«"We had a lot of fun," Wheaton said. He also described how the team worked on the mechanics of creating and throwing fireballs manually. He called the role of a fireball-throwing wizard a big deal for "a special kind of nerd," adding that he'd never looked so cool on screen.

Reflecting on the experience, Wheaton quoted a line from the film Almost Famous that describes the feeling of being forced to look cool when you're not really cool, and called it "an absolutely wonderful place to be trapped.".

"Stewart Couldn't Save the Universe" is available to watch on HBO Max.
