It's estimated that over a billion single-use plastic bottles are used worldwide every day. That's approximately 600 billion per year. These numbers are staggering, so Hydro Flask and Universal Music Group (UMG) are joining forces to reduce the use of plastic water bottles in music venues.

UMG announced a new partnership with Hydro Flask, which aims to deploy water and reusable drinking glassware distribution points across the company's global network of studios, songwriting sessions, and events to reduce single-use waste. By supporting this network, Hydro Flask becomes part of the moments where ideas are exchanged and songs are created, strengthening its role in supporting music venues. The partnership officially launched on June 1 at Studio Two on Abbey Road, which also featured a special performance by Sekou.
«"This partnership reflects a shared commitment to reducing the environmental impact of artists and teams' daily creative lives," said Naomi McMahon, executive vice president of global marketing and partnerships at Universal Music Group For Brands, in a statement. "By providing reusable products and refill solutions directly to our studios, Hydro Flask helps reduce waste in a real and practical way. When sustainability is built into the space where music is created, artists can focus on creativity, knowing their choices help protect the planet.".
In the first year of the partnership, UMG hopes to eliminate over 10,000 single-use bottles and cups, thereby reducing waste in studios and creative spaces to 80% companywide. Hydro Flask x UMG estimates this can be achieved by introducing over 2,000 reusable bottles.

Meanwhile, Hydro Flask and UMG are preparing to release a new collection of exclusive bottles, mugs, tumblers, and other merchandise. It will feature designs inspired by studio environments, including East Iris Studios in Nashville, Chelsea Studios in New York and Los Angeles, Abbey Road in London, and Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, as well as collaborations with artists like Gigi Perez and Sekou.
