Maluma says he is no longer chasing the "American dream" and is turning his attention back to Colombia.
In a recent interview on the program All Access The Colombian music superstar explained to Univision why she is no longer interested in collaborating with US artists or entering the English-speaking market.
«"I used to really want to collaborate with American artists. I was always obsessed with it," he told influencer Lola Lolita, admitting he'd been focusing heavily on cultivating connections with international stars. "I was chasing what you might call the American dream, right? It's not anymore. It's the Colombian dream now.".

«"This is my dream, this is my dream for my homeland, this is the dream of my grandparents," he continued. "This is a dream that has always existed and which helps me remain a realist.".
The singer of the hit "Felices Los 4" says his priorities have completely shifted. Instead of looking outward, he wants to invest his energy in Colombia's thriving urban music scene and help promote young talent from his country.
«"That period of constantly having to look to the United States to predict the future is over," he concluded. "Now I look to the future of my country.".
North American artists Maluma has previously collaborated with include Ty Dolla Sign, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, The Weeknd, and Jason Derulo.
In addition, the Medellin singer and his partner Susana Gomez announced that they are expecting their second child.
Maluma's new album, Loco X Volver , which translates to "Return to Madness," was released earlier this month.
