Young MA supports Tory Lanez.
During a recent speech at Mornings With Mero show On HOT 97 radio, the Brooklyn rapper explained why she invited Lanez, who is currently serving time at the California Men's Colony in San Luis Obispo for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, to appear on her new album. KWEEN. MA said she knew he was perfect for the dancehall song "Gyal Dem Ryte".
Speaking about the collaboration, Young MA noted that she has been working with the Canadian artist for some time now.
«"I like Tori. It's a matter of taste," she said. "I've known Tori for a couple of years and have always been a fan of his music.".

The rapper went on to explain that she felt Lanez was the perfect fit for the track due to his versatility and ability to convey the dancehall-inspired sound she envisioned.
«"Everyone knows, all the guys know: turn on Tori, bam, and we go," she said. "And I love his sound, and I felt like he was perfect for this because I know he can be successful…"»
Young MA also made it clear that her support for Lanez goes beyond music.
«"And you know, I support him. Free this guy," she added.
The comments come as Lanes is serving a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of shooting Meg in 2020. He is eligible for parole in August 2029, according to California prison records.
