Idris Elba officially joined the ranks of Britain's most distinguished figures when he received a knighthood from King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. He became Sir Idris Elba at a ceremony that celebrated his contributions far beyond film and television.

The award, presented as part of the 2026 New Year Honours List, recognised his contribution to youth empowerment and community support, particularly through initiatives to tackle inequality and youth violence.
For the occasion, Idris chose an outfit from his own brand. Eve of Winston , proving that formal dress codes don't have to come at the expense of individuality. At first glance, the outfit seemed to be in keeping with traditional royal ceremonial attire: a classic black tailcoat, white shirt, and bow tie. But upon closer inspection, the distinctive geometric trim on the waistcoat revealed a harness-inspired element, distinguishing the ensemble from standard morning or court attire.
The combination of traditional tailoring techniques and more modern details seemed perfectly appropriate for a man who has built his career on challenging established norms. The look was appropriate for the occasion while maintaining his own unique style.
Standing next to him was his wife, Sabrina Elba, dressed in a from the Stella McCartney Fall 2026 collection, which you will instantly recognize.
And it looks like many of you were right: this skirt suit really did need a belt. Zendaya went without one when she wore it to Jennifer Hudson's show , and I think the navy blue looks much better than the white version worn by Ellie Goulding, which didn't suit her at all, and the tonal trim framing the peplum further enhances the overall effect.
