Ever since King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, there have been rumors and speculation that he might abdicate the throne and allow his son, William, to become king. But the likelihood of this was always slim, given rumors that Queen Elizabeth might do so, and there was even a time when people wondered if she might bypass Charles and abdicate directly in favor of William. Of course, none of this ever happened.
However, reports have now emerged that William is seriously concerned about his father's health, amid rumors that Charles is refusing to step down to take care of himself. RadarOnline reports that even Queen Camilla urged the king to slow down, but he refused.

William is reportedly preparing for this behind the scenes: "William would undoubtedly be devastated if his father's condition worsened and he was given only a few months to live. But the prince is also very pragmatic and focused on the stability of the monarchy.".
This all came after one report indicated that Buckingham Palace was pressuring the press to downplay the severity of the king's illness. Robert Jobson, a seasoned royal reporter and author of «The Windsor Legacy» , commented on the good news about cancer that appeared at the end of last year.
«"I think the palace has been overly focused on the 'good news,'" Jobson explained. "The King has cancer. He's going to live with cancer. I don't think there's any prospect other than him living with cancer.".
«"And that speaks for itself. I've seen him at events nearby where he'd almost fall asleep standing up. This is a man who wholeheartedly believes in his duty, and he's a courageous man.".
Jobson also added that Charles is unlikely to resign. "I would put it this way: if he feels he can't carry out his duties because of ill health, and if he feels his health is in any way affecting his position, then he won't necessarily seek to resign, but he'll likely say, 'I can't continue with my treatment, and I'll let it run its course.'".
Those close to him reportedly feared how his latest state visit to the US would impact his position. But the king went ahead anyway. "This is one of the most serious, if not the most serious, tests for King Charles since his accession to the throne, because the historically special relationship is in peril," said royal expert Duncan Larcombe. "Donald Trump is openly criticizing the prime minister, something Charles has never had to deal with before.".
Behind the scenes, William is reportedly seeking more power and a more radical stance on issues like Andrew's scandal. "William believes Andrew should be immediately removed from the line of succession and completely removed from royal life," a palace source said.
The heir apparent is also adamant about his brother, Prince Harry. Charles remains open to reconciliation, but William is less so. "While Charles is willing to mend fences with Harry, William wants no part of it. And that will likely never change," said another royal source.
