An 18-year-old Steven Spielberg fan became a viral sensation after she froze during a chance encounter with the legendary director and blurted out the only thing that came to her mind: «I love «Jaws »!»
Hudson Menzel from New York reported Newsweek, that, leaving the building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza, after filming the program Saturday Night Live , Someone told him Steven Spielberg was about to leave the building. He added, "They were right, and when he walked past, I was shocked and excited and couldn't think of anything to say.".
But what Menzel still managed to say, while completely amazed by the sight of the Oscar-winning director, has now been seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
In a video posted to Hudson Menzel's Instagram account (@hudsonmenzel), the teenager nervously tells viewers that Spielberg is "about to walk past.".
When the director appears, Menzel exclaims in a trembling voice: «I love «Jaws »!»
Spielberg's reaction is immediate—he turns, smiles, and gives Menzel a thumbs-up, after which the teenager jokingly remarks that he "did a great job.".
Newsweek magazine has reached out to Steven Spielberg's representatives for comment on this story.
Hearing this remark, Spielberg smirks and gives a thumbs up.
Spielberg's reaction caused a wide response on the internet.
«"When he gave me the thumbs-up, I was thrilled because I wasn't sure he was going to react at all," Menzel said.
He called the video's popularity both "exciting and shocking," adding that he "never expected this video to go so viral.".
«"I realized it really went viral when people started messaging me that they saw it in their recommendations, and these were people who didn't even follow me.".
The video featuring Menzel and Spielberg has received nearly 150,000 likes, with one commenter writing, "I love how scared you sound.".
