In his new book,« Kennedy and the Windsors: a story of two dynasties, one born, one created »Caroline Hallemann points to a romantic connection between the two dynasties. The Kennedy family and the royal family have been linked for nearly a century, dating back to Joe Kennedy becoming US Ambassador to the UK in 1938. Despite their long history, this connection is much more recent.
«"Robert Kennedy's granddaughter, Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, was even linked to Alex Ogilvy, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth's cousin, Princess Alexandra, when they both attended Brown University," Hallemann writes.

Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo is related to the Kennedy political dynasty not only as the granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy and the daughter of Kerry Kennedy, but also as the grandfather of Mario Cuomo, the former governor of New York from 1983 to 1995. Her father, Andrew Cuomo, also held the post from 2011 until his retirement in 2021.
Andrew and Kerry were married from 1990 to 2005.
Meanwhile, Alex Ogilvy's parents are James and Julia Ogilvy, and his grandmother, Princess Alexandra, was a bridesmaid at Queen Elizabeth's wedding when she married Prince Philip in 1947, according to Cosmopolitan . According to PEOPLE, he is far down the line of succession, ranking 60th, and will likely not become monarch.
While their alleged relationship didn't last, it's worth noting that the Kennedy family has "long-standing ties to Hollywood and its nostalgic glamour," says Hallemann, which leads to other important connections.
