Before becoming a mother of three, Princess Eugenie will celebrate her son's third birthday!

Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter celebrated her second son, Ernest,'s third birthday on May 30th in a modern and relatable way: with an Instagram post. 36-year-old Eugenia shared a series of four photos on her personal social media page, captioning them with a description of her son's favorite things and personality.

«"Happy third birthday to my favorite tiger, hat-wearing, hug-giving, and fearless golden boy, Ernie!" the proud mom wrote. "You light up every room with your deep voice and infectious smile.".

Previously unseen photos included a sweet snapshot of Princess Eugenie and Ernest kissing, as well as a shot of Ernest's older brother, August, holding hands with his brother. Two additional photos show Ernest alone: one kicking a soccer ball, and the other playing with green and blue balloons.

The family celebration coincides with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's preparations for the birth of their third child. Buckingham Palace announced the pregnancy in a statement released on May 4, which read: "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce that they are expecting their third child, due this summer. Augustus (5) and Ernest (2) are also delighted to welcome another sibling to the family. His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.".

The news was also posted on Princess Eugenie's Instagram page, along with a photo of her two sons holding an ultrasound scan. "Baby Brooksbank due in 2026!" she wrote in the caption.

Although Princess Eugenie's children do not hold royal titles, they follow her in the line of succession. Eugenie currently ranks 12th in line of succession, followed by her two sons, and the newborn will be 15th in line of succession.

The news of the pregnancy comes amid turbulent events in Princess Eugenie's family. In October 2025, King Charles stripped her parents, the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, of their royal titles and long-standing family rights after recently released documents revealed the depth of their alleged ties to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein, and Ferguson has not been accused of any crimes.

In February, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of abuse of office over allegations he passed confidential information to Epstein during his work as the UK's trade representative.

Following the arrest, a source told PEOPLE that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are trying to "stay away" from the scandal surrounding their parents. "They have young children, and it's their grandfather—their main priority is to protect their own children from this," the insider said.

A family friend also told PEOPLE that Beatrice and Eugenie "want to maintain their royal status" amid the current situation. "It's their identity," the source added.
