Anna Faris was just settling in after Hollywood when an old friend called her.
That friend was Cindy Campbell, the franchise's clumsy heroine. «Scary Movie» , who works alongside Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall). Faris, 49, says she had almost resigned herself to the idea of quitting acting before being asked to bring Cindy back from retirement.

Once she was on set, she couldn't stop expressing her gratitude, Faris said in an interview.

«Scary Movie» was Faris's first major film. When she received the offer to join the cast of the new installment of the beloved franchise, directed by Tiddes, Faris previously told PEOPLE that she was "shocked and immediately thrilled.".
She hinted that the sixth film is "a celebration of the Wayans brothers." She also described the filming process as "healing" and the project itself as "a victory.".

«"For me, having us all reunited was a real victory," she said of the sixth installment. "It didn't matter what happened, no matter how the film was received. At that moment, I personally felt absolutely wonderful. It's like the icing on the cake—that audiences are so excited to see it. It's a truly special time in my life. I feel grateful.".
She also told PEOPLE, "It's kind of healing in the sense that we're back together. It's personal for me because I was able to thank them. I've never properly thanked them before.".
The film "Scary Movie"« hits theaters Friday.
