Bill Maher told mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt he was a much-requested guest among his audience both online and in person, but he had one criticism of the reality TV star-turned-politician.
«"People think about you. No one can take that away from you," Maher said on his podcast Monday. "If nothing else happened, you did.".
The "Club Random" host said that everything Pratt does has been so well received by people that Maher said he's been approached "from everywhere" to have him on their show.
«"I never planned on being mayor of Los Angeles," Pratt told him. "I only ran to get a bigger platform to expose all this negligence... because the person [Mayor Karen Bass] in charge burned down my house, my mother's house, my neighbors' houses.".
Maher interrupted him before he could get too deep into his campaign rhetoric and quickly gave him a quick critique.
«"I hear you say that all the time. You're taking it way too personally," he replied. "She's not a great mayor. That's a very common perception… She messed up. A lot of people messed up. One person didn't burn down your house.".
«"She was in Ghana, so obviously she didn't start the fire," Pratt replied. "Whoever is in power needs to be held accountable.".

Pratt spent much of his campaign criticizing his rival, incumbent Mayor Bass, for her incompetent handling of the 2025 Los Angeles fires. He lost his home and sought to expose the city's shortcomings in fighting the fires.
«"This is very important to me because I have to hear my mother cry every day. Then the woman across the street burned alive. And then that woman with the parrots," he said.
«"Well, just don't bring the parrots into this," Maher joked.
Voting in the Los Angeles mayoral primary closes Tuesday at 8:00 PM PT. The front-runners are Bass, Pratt, and City Councilwoman Nitya Raman. Raman and Pratt are vying for second place in a runoff election against the incumbent mayor.
If a candidate does not receive more than 50% votes, the two candidates with the highest number of votes will advance to the second round of elections in November.
