On Wednesday, June 3, during the event «Matlock For Your Consideration" at the Linwood Dunn Theatre in Los Angeles, the actor gave an exclusive interview to PEOPLE, where he recalled his participation in the 1996 film.
«"Yeah, it was so long ago, I can't remember exactly why, but it was probably pretty stupid of me," Bridges, 84, said of not being credited. "I don't know, because people come up to me all the time and talk about that show. I didn't even remember.".

He added, "Well, when I was first told I wasn't credited, I didn't even remember doing it. There had to be a reason. I don't remember why.".
However, Bridges played Matt Cushman in the film, the father of Frank "Cush" Cushman, played by Jerry O'Connell.
The 63-year-old Cruise rose to fame thanks to his role as the title character, a sports agent who decides to start his own agency. For this role, he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor. Cuba Gooding Jr. won for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Rod Tidwell.
«"I really enjoyed working with him," Bridges said of Cruise. "He's a great actor and he's only gotten better with age. He still does all these crazy stunts and stuff. Yeah. And I love working with him. I think he's great.".

Bridges' current work includes playing Howard "Senor" Markston in the legal drama series, which is based on the original «Matlock» , but it stars Kathy Bates as Madeline "Mattie" Madeline Matlock / Madeline Kingston.
«"She's so funny. I have a hard time keeping a straight face when I look at her. She's wonderful," Bridges told the publication. Deadline about 77-year-old Bates in March 2024.
