David Spade almost played the iconic character in the series. «"Full House".
In an interview for Esquire magazine's "What I Learned" column Spade, 61, reflected on the roles he'd gotten and the ones he hadn't. During the conversation, Michael Sebastian asked Spade if it was true that "you almost played Joey in the TV series "Full House"?«
«"That's not exactly a lie," Spade replied with a laugh.
«"When I moved here, it was one of my first auditions where I was under a little pressure, and I auditioned for the role of Joey," he recalls. While he doesn't remember the audition details, he vaguely recalls a comical scene where Joey juggles laundry with other chores.
«I didn’t know what I was doing, but let’s just say I didn’t fit in well So »close,” he added.

Besides TV series "Full House", Spade also recalled auditioning for TV series "In the Heat of the Night", which aired from 1988 to 1995. He noted that if he had received any of these roles, his career would have turned out completely differently.
«"What a different career. If I had gotten this role, it would have lasted for about seven years. No comedy," he said.
Then the actor from film "Grown Ups"« thought about the TV series "Full House", saying, "It could have been different. I think if I look back on everything that went wrong, it all worked out well in the end, but damn, the turmoil of things not working out. It's tough. It really took a toll on me mentally when things weren't working out.".
The role of family friend Joey Gladstone in the series «Full House, The show, which aired for eight seasons from 1987 to 1995, eventually went to comedian Dave Coulier. In addition to Coulier, the beloved series also starred Candace Cameron Bure, Lori Loughlin, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen, Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Jodie Sweetin.
Most of the actors remained very close to each other over the years, carrying their on-screen family dynamics off-screen as well.

At the 2023 '90s Con,' Coulier recalled meeting Saget during his stand-up routine several years before they starred together on the hit sitcom. He recounted how the late actor, who died in 2022 from blunt force trauma following an undisclosed fall, gave him his address and told him to stay in touch if he ever needed anything.
When Coulier moved to Los Angeles, he took the napkin with him and called Saget, who immediately told him, "Come over.".
«"Then I couldn't find an apartment, so I slept on his couch for two weeks while he was traveling. He didn't know me! He just let me stay in his apartment," Kuli shared.
Ten years later, they reunited to work on the series.
«Then art began to imitate life,” Coulier continued. “When we were filming «Full House, I moved into Danny's house and slept in this damn alcove. And Bob was like, 'This is so weird.'".
