Details on the much-hyped crossover between "The Young and the Restless" and "Beyond the Gates": interviews with the actors.

Crossover between TV series "Beyond the Gates"« и «The Young and the Restless» will begin on June 9. When TV Insider reporters visited the set during production of these groundbreaking episodes, there was palpable excitement among the actors of both series.

The plot revolves around a charity event in support of Martin Richardson (Brandon Claybon) in Fairmont Crest, which attracts several of Genoa City's most prominent residents, including Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters), Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Devon Winters (Bryton James), and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway).

«"When they told me it was happening, I was very quick to respond," says Peter Bergman. "It's always nice to play Jack somewhere else, so I said, 'Yeah, I'll do it for free... Oh, did I just say that out loud?' I wasn't forced to do it for free, but it's so cool.".

Bergman says he was immediately struck by the enthusiasm of the cast and crew. TV series "« "As the World Turns." "They're so proud of their show, and it's no wonder," he adds. "I really loved the atmosphere and being in that environment. Clifton Davis [Vernon Dupree] made me feel welcome right away. Tamara [Tuney, Anita Dupree] played Jessica Griffin on» How the world turns »" when I was filming «All my children »"[as Cliff Warner], so we were acquainted, but we didn't know each other personally. But it was really easy to connect. And everyone else was somewhere between, 'I don't know who he is,' or 'I watched you with my grandma.' I just felt like a guest at a very special party.".

Susan Walters' reaction to the call about the crossover was quite different. "It was funny because I was going on a hike and I got a call from Daniel [Unger, CBS vice president of current programming] and Josh [Griffith, head writer of the series]« The Young and the Restless »"]," she recalls. "And I was like, 'Oh my God, I don't know, this is good news.' So it was a little nerve-wracking. But then I was really happy because I grew up two miles from the studio. And I was working on „"Little Wolf"“ и „The Vampire Diaries“ in Atlanta when we lived here for a short time, so I've already met the crew members I worked with on both of those shows, which is great.".

She was also impressed by the energy of the new daytime series. "The vibe of this show is like the first year of filming, where everyone is really close-knit and enthusiastic," Walters notes. "It's not like in "The Young and the Restless"« It was different, but everything is new here, and you can still smell the paint. It's really cool to be a part of it.".

Walters hints at what brought Diane to Fairmont Crest: "She's there to support Martin, and I don't know—maybe she's looking at other options because she and Jack are having marital problems. She has a few options.".

Michael Mealor was surprised to learn that Kyle would be participating. "Honestly, I was shocked," he says. "I'm so honored they wanted me to come. They really celebrated this crossover, and it's so cool. CBS really went all out.".

Mealor, an Atlanta native, says his family was especially excited to learn he'd be working in the city. "They said, 'Come sleep at home. Sleep in your own bed,'" he says. "And I said, 'They're renting me a hotel. I think I'll sleep there.'" Laughs

Kyle plays a key role in the plot—not only do he and Martin know each other from the past, but they also meet Hayley Lawson (Marquita Goings). "In terms of the plot, Kyle and Martin were friends when they were both living in New York," explains Mealor. "Kyle was a bit of a brat; he did whatever he wanted. And Martin seemed to be the voice of reason in everything. He was on the right track and tried to calm Kyle down, but they were still best friends.".

Goings says she was taken aback by the connection that developed between Hailey and Kyle at the charity event. "What surprised me most was what actually happened," she jokes. "Just the interactions and all that, considering Hailey's married. I think I'll leave it at that.".

She adds that the crossover had special meaning for her as a long-time viewer of the show. "I love «"The Young and the Bold »"I've been watching it since I was a kid," Goings explains. "My grandmother and my great-aunt watched it together." Meeting Eric Braeden was a particularly powerful moment for her. "Just being on set with him, knowing I'd been watching it since I was five with my grandmother—it was a moment that came full circle.".

Keith D. Robinson's (Ted Richardson) reaction from TV series "« "The Young and the Restless" was similar. "I grew up watching it after school. «"The Young and the Bold »"I saw Victor Newman," he says. "So the opportunity to work with him was kind of a closure for me. He was calm. He was cool. He was a real veteran. I felt like his inclusion with our cast kind of sealed the deal. He—" main in this genre, so the fact that he came and worked with us was very important.».

Sean Freeman (Andre Richardson), «BTG» ) admits that he was also amazed. «I’m a big fan of the entire cast, but, of course, the original Victor "Newman just blew me away," he says. "I was texting the crew, 'Wait, that's the one. most Victor?""“

Braeden more than lived up to expectations when they filmed together. "It was an amazing, incredible moment," Freeman says. "I just looked at him like a deer caught in headlights and thought, 'Hi, I'm Sean. What's yours?' It was amazing.".

Freeman's on-screen wife, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), was already involved with The Young and the Restless« . In 2021, she briefly replaced Michelle Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) during her medical leave and had a great time connecting with her former castmates. "I was so excited," Mosley enthuses. "I got to work with them for a couple of weeks, and I was just thrilled to be playing with Brighton again. But also, having this group of people here, who are icons in their own right and have been working on the show for so long, is a really big deal, so it's an honor to have them here.".

For Bryton James, the crossover marked a return to BTG , where he previously appeared in August 2025. "I'm honored to be asked to do any job, and I'm thrilled about it," he says. "Seeing the show's success, being a part of a second season, and knowing I'm part of daytime television history makes me feel even more comfortable.".

Devon has his reasons for returning, James explains. "Well, he's donating to the campaign. He's rich. All the rich people here are from Genoa City, so I guess his wallet brought him here.".

Devon is joined by his wife, Abby Newman, played by Melissa Ordway, who is also from Atlanta. "I was so excited when I got the call to be involved because I grew up right around there," she explains. "I even drove past those studios, which used to be the General Motors plant, because my pediatrician lived nearby. But I love this show. It's so groundbreaking, so to be associated with it in any way is incredibly exciting.".

Ordway admits she had some apprehension before filming began. «I was very nervous because in «The Young and the Restless» »We set up the cameras in the morning, then we rehearse, and then we shoot,« she says. «Everything happens faster here, and I made a mistake once, and I was like, »Oh my God, I can’t make a mistake on this new show! I want to do my best!« So, of course, I was nervous. But everyone is so great, and they said, ‘Don’t be nervous! We’re nervous because You Here"."»

The crossover's storyline centers on Brandon Claybon, who grew up watching the show. «"The Young and the Restless »" and says filming the charity event scene was an unforgettable experience. "Honestly, I felt like I'd won the presidential election," Claybon reflects. "As soon as I got up to the podium, I thought, 'Wow!' And that's beyond the character. That's Brandon in my head.".

Claybon promises the audience a real fireworks show when the main event turns into a disaster. "We had a ball, and now we have a charity event, and they won't be ready for this," Claybon predicts. "It's going to be a massive double whammy, and it's going to be amazing.".
