A judge has granted Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen an updated custody order for their two-year-old son, Ever.
At a hearing on Monday, June 1, the judge lifted the mandatory supervision of Paul's time with Ever. The judge also allowed Paul to pick up Ever on the same weekday each week, with no overnight stays, and on alternating weekends. The judge stated that Mortensen would remain the custodial parent on holidays.
The judge also banned the former couple from "making derogatory remarks about each other" in public, including on social media.
The hearing follows a bitter and high-profile legal battle between the 31-year-old reality star -show "The Secret Life of Mormon Wives"« and her 33-year-old ex-boyfriend, which began in February with two investigations by Utah police into allegations that each of them used violence during arguments that month.
While the investigation was ongoing, Mortensen filed for a restraining order against Paul, and a few weeks later, she filed her own restraining order. At the final court hearing on April 30, both orders were granted by mutual consent for three years.
A few weeks before the April 30th hearing, the judge granted Mortensen custody of Ever, allowing Paul to see him for up to eight hours a week under the supervision of a paid employee or someone vetted by the guardian. At the April 30th hearing, the judge upheld the custody agreement.
Over the past two months, Paul has accused Mortensen in court of stalking and, in one instance, slamming her head into the dashboard of his truck. Mortensen presented photographs of scratches and other physical injuries he claims he sustained during arguments with Paul.
Earlier, in 2023, Paul was arrested on domestic violence charges against Mortensen, who allegedly threw metal chairs at him while her then-5-year-old daughter, Indi, was in the room. Paul pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, and the remaining charges were dropped.

Although the arrest occurred more than three years ago, the case regained public attention in March when TMZ released video of the incident, which showed Paul screaming, grabbing Mortensen by the head, and throwing chairs at him, while a child can be heard crying in the video.

A few hours after the video was published, ABC canceled the already filmed season of the show. «The Bachelorette» featuring Paul a few days before the scheduled premiere, although the network has since said the season may air in the future.

Amid the ongoing legal battle between Paul and Mortensen, production of the fifth season of the reality show Mormon Wives« was temporarily suspended in March. According to PEOPLE's sources, several contestants on the show refused to work with Paul. In April, PEOPLE confirmed that production on the Hulu reality show was expected to resume, although a source told PEOPLE in May that only new interviews were being filmed for the upcoming season.
The next custody hearing for Paul and Mortensen is scheduled for July 8.
