Taking the stage Monday night at the Yaamava Resort and Casino in Highland, California, Jessica Simpson paused for a moment in front of the audience to share her reflections on more than eight years of sobriety.
Before performing her unreleased song, "Give It All Away," Simpson shared what inspired her to create the new track and said that while she's come a long way, she's still "a work in progress.".

«"I didn't understand all the trauma I was carrying around. And it became incredibly painful when I started looking for something within myself I could reveal," Simpson said. "I became something I feared, something I didn't know or understand.".
The artist continued, explaining that as a mother, she felt like "an inadequate role model," and later realized that "alcohol didn't dull my pain, but rather exacerbated it. It was a crutch that didn't work.".
«"Honestly, I'm still working on myself, and I appreciate every day that I feel alive and in my body, and I'm so proud of myself. So it felt right to share this song with you," she continued, before addressing her fans directly: "I want you all to know that you need to be a little gentle with yourself, and everything will be okay if you just give it your all.".
Last November, Simpson, a mother of three, celebrated eight years of sobriety. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "I made a choice to confront, own, and let go of the parts of my life that I chose." She added, "Today I realized that. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are things we feel but may not see. I am so glad I chose faith over fear. I found strength not in struggle, but in surrender.".
Last year, Simpson returned to the stage after a 15-year hiatus, performing at the SXSW festival and releasing two EPs, Nashville Canyon Part I и II .
