Evanescence frontman Amy Lee's son is following in her footsteps—and is crazy about metal music.
Lee, 44, recently took her 11-year-old son Jack to Evanescence and Metallica concerts on tour. M72 across Australia and New Zealand. The classically trained, Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and pianist says the experience left a lasting impression on her.
«"I was able to bring my son, who's 11 now—just the perfect age to fall in love with metal," Lee said in an interview with Loudwire published Wednesday, June 3.

The trip turned out to be even more memorable than Lee expected. She praised Metallica for welcoming both her band and her family throughout the tour. "They were absolutely wonderful, so accommodating," Lee told Loudwire. "You never know what it's like to be in someone else's world.".
For her son, one particular moment was the defining moment. "When he saw it at the stadium, and the rain started falling softly during 'Nothing Else Matters,' I just watched the thought flash through his head: 'I'm in,'" Lee said.
The experience also brought back memories of Lee's own musical awakening. "It was so good for my heart and took me back to when I was a teenager and fell in love with music," she said.

Evanescence is preparing to release their sixth studio album. Sanctuary on Friday, June 5. Lee believes the album will resonate with both new listeners discovering the band for the first time and longtime fans who have been following their work for years.
«"I feel like right now is a time where words really matter, and every line is an opportunity, a chance to say something that will impact someone," Lee explained. "I hope it's in a positive way, so they feel something, whether it's a sense of understanding, a sense that they're not alone in something, or just a sense that they're not alone in this crazy thing that's going on in the world right now.".
She added: "It's just awful and it feels like we're being robbed of control.".
Following the album's release this summer, Evanescence will hit the road again, kicking off a new series of shows on June 11, 2026. The band's first show will take place in West Palm Beach, Florida.
