Returning from a brief holiday break last week, John Oliver took to his desk again to criticize the disastrous organization of Donald Trump's 250th Independence Day celebration, which was plagued by numerous cancellations after many scheduled performers, such as Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, Morris Day, Young MC, and The Commodores, pulled out after learning the celebration was not apolitical.
«"It's an incredible lineup of people you haven't heard from since 2009," joked the comedian and late-night show host. "Honestly, it feels less like America's 250th birthday and more like Rhonda's 50th birthday playlist. The only surprising thing about this lineup is the special appearances by the guy from ShamWow and the kid from Gushers whose head turned into a raspberry.".

The Great American State Fair is a 16-day event held on the National Mall from June 25 to July 10 to commemorate the country's 50th anniversary. Following the withdrawal of several performers, Trump took to social media to lash out at "overrated singers who no one wants to listen to, whose music is boring, and who do nothing but complain," suggesting the event be "canceled" and replaced with a pro-Trump rally.
