Season 19 of the series «Criminal Minds: Evolution» has just premiered—two episodes dropped on Paramount+ on May 28th—but that doesn't mean we can't get a glimpse of the future. After all, filming for Season 20 is already in full swing after the show's renewal was announced in March. Every finale does a great job of setting the stage for the next season, and TV Insider got the scoop from showrunner Erica Messer on what to expect this year.
«"The most important thing [the Season 19 finale] is that it lets us know that some chapters are ending, but our fight between good and evil in this world is never over. So we're ending this season with the idea that, yes, this big thing may be over, but there's another big one brewing, and all hands are on deck," she says, discussing the season's first two episodes. .
She continues, "So we want to believe that between Seasons 19 and 20, they solved the case that was presented to them at the end of Season 19, because a year has passed. Then again, a year will pass between seasons, story-wise, between Seasons 19 and 20.".
Premiere of the 19th season of the series «Criminal Minds: Evolution» will jump ahead a year. This season, serial killer Elias Voight (Zach Gilford) is still incarcerated but has become nationally known thanks to podcasts dedicated to him. The BAU will also face a Sicarius copycat, Fang, described as "their most formidable foe" and "precise, calculating, and relentlessly dangerous." This criminal "will push the BAU to the brink and return them to the shadow of Elias Voight," and the season description asks, "What lengths will Fang go to prove his superiority over his idol?"«
We caught glimpses of Fan in the first two episodes of the season, but as Messer explains, "We don't meet him face-to-face until Episode 8. So it'll be Episodes 8, 9, 10. We know about him, so we talk to Voight a lot, but the audience won't see who he is until Episode 8.".
