The TV series "Euphoria"« has always thrived on chaos, and Sam Levinson decided to save the most ruthless season for last. The Emmy-winning HBO drama will air its Season 3 finale on Sunday, May 21, and if the series is going to end as it began, expect a huge bang (and more character deaths).

Spoilers: Tonight's reportedly extended finale, titled "In God We Trust," will leave plenty of loose ends. Rue (Zendaya) is in grave danger after breaking into drug dealer Laurie's (Martha Kelly) safe. Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) is dead, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) is losing control, and Fern (Chloe Cherry) has just informed her Nazi boyfriend Wayne (Toby Wallace) of Rue's whereabouts. "If there's a beginning, there must be an end," Rue says in a cryptic voiceover in Episode 7.
Season three picks up five years after the season two finale. Cassie and Nate are married and living in the suburbs, Rue is working off her debt to Laurie, Jules (Hunter Schafer) is attending art school, and Maddie (Alexa Demie) is climbing the corporate ladder at a Hollywood talent agency. The season synopsis hinted that the childhood friends will grapple with "the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil." These themes still feel incredibly relevant ahead of a gripping finale that could very well be the show's farewell.

In the penultimate episode of the third season «Euphoria» Levinson murdered Nate Jacobs. He was buried alive at a construction site, then poisoned by a venomous rattlesnake that crawled into his coffin and attacked him. Nate was held hostage by loan sharks, who gave Cassie three days to find the money to save him.
Cassie asked Maddie for help, who in turn turned to Alamo for help. Although she confronted Naz, planted a fake bag of money on him, and shot him, it was all in vain. When the coffin was finally discovered, the two women found Nate's body.

The episode ended with Fern yelling to her Nazi boyfriend, Wayne, that Rue had broken into the safe in Laurie's basement. Upon opening it, Rue realized there was no money, only photos and ID. She was once again in mortal danger after numerous brushes with death, including near-death experiences at the hands of Alamo and Bishop, and being decapitated with a polo stick.
