Cara Delevingne says her debut songs are inspired by her process of quitting alcohol and the mental health issues she faced.
The 33-year-old actress is known worldwide for her work as a model and has also starred in major films such as Suicide Squad and Only Murders in the Building.
Now she's entered the music world, releasing her first two songs, I Forgot and Out of My Head, last Friday.
Delevingne told BBC Radio 1 host Jack Saunders that the second track is based on the idea of "everyone talking, but no one actually listening and telling the truth.".
On the New Music Show, Delevingne revealed that "Out of My Head" was inspired by her first year of sobriety and the "inner conflict and alienation and everything else" she experienced during that time.
«"We changed the chorus to 'out of my head' because I think I have to do that every day to get rid of intrusive thoughts," she said.
Regarding another of her compositions, "I Forgot," she said she "wanted to create a song that could touch on the topic of mental health, how hard it can be sometimes and what it can actually feel like.".
The London native said the desire to create the song came from a desire to "fully let loose with it.".
«"I think as an Englishman I've never been very good at dealing with anger, so this is the healthiest way I've found to get it all out and express those emotions.".
Delevingne has previously spoken about her struggle with depression and how she has become "very good at detaching herself from her emotions.".
She also spoke openly about her struggle with addiction and how a 12-step treatment program helped her.

«"I am human, I am imperfect.".
Delevingne said she had used humor and self-deprecation before, but she had to learn to take herself more seriously when it came to music, realizing that people might have preconceived notions about her.
«"I wanted it to feel like I, as a person, was working through this and trying my best to say, 'I'm human, I'm imperfect, I'm just human, and we all have pain and suffering, but music can be that glue that brings it all together,'" she said.
The seven-minute cinematic music video for both tracks was directed by Jessica Leigh Gagné, who served as the lead cinematographer on the psychological thriller series "The Breakup.".
At the beginning of the film, to the sound of the song "I Forgot," Delevingne falls from the sky, after which it is revealed that the action takes place on a film set with a film crew and dancers.
In the second half of the play she walks through the forest, after which the action moves to the office.
Delevingne said Gagné initially turned down the job due to her busy schedule, but agreed after listening to the music because she "liked" it.
«"She's definitely a visionary in many ways," Delevingne said.
«A lot of the music I wanted to create, coming from a film background, felt very cinematic to me.».
«"So being able to combine that with something like this was a dream come true.".
