Although the Princess of Wales favors British fashion brands as a diplomatic gesture, her wardrobe has never been limited to British labels. For example, on her wedding day, she famously wore a tiara from the French house of Cartier, and she regularly wears brands from Spain (Zara and Massimo Dutti), Italy (Superga and Aquazzura), and the United States (Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors). Today, Kate Middleton surprised her fashion fans by wearing an American brand she's never worn before: Rodarte.

Los Angeles-based Rodarte has been around since 2005. Led by sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, they've dressed virtually every celebrity, including their longtime muse Kirsten Dunst, as well as Nicole Kidman, Amanda Seyfried, Natalie Portman, Elle Fanning, Tracee Ellis Ross, Zoe Saldanha, Demi Lovato, Jenna Ortega, Maude Apatow, and many others. Most recently, Olivia Rodrigo wore a pink version of the same Rodarte dress worn by Middleton. It's surprising it took so long for the Rodarte dress to appear in Middleton's wardrobe, but I have a feeling the princess will own many more pieces like it in the future. Scroll down to see the royal's new look.
