In a recent conversation with Gayle King, the actress known for the film "One of Those Days" opened up about her life with the disease and the years she spent undiagnosed. According to PEOPLE, the 32-year-old actress described this period as "exhaustive" and "unbearable," noting that it greatly impacted her self-confidence.

«"It caused emotional pain that's indescribable... I've had this my whole life, and I accepted the burden, but I didn't want to carry it," she said. "I remember getting to a point where I said, 'I have to address this. I have to fix this. This isn't just acne; this is my body telling me there's something more serious going on.'".

Keke Palmer found answers by turning to a specialist.

During the conversation, Palmer also revealed that this experience prompted her to search online for information about several possible causes of acne.

Eventually, she began researching her hormone levels and, linking her symptoms to heredity, asked her doctor if she had PMOS (previously called PCOS). However, since she had no cysts, this possibility was initially ruled out.

«I told the doctors: You are all wrong,» she recalled.

«"Everyone around me was like a glass shell, and here I was, like cracked glass. It really took a toll on my mental health because [I felt] that if I did everything right, I would get results," Palmer continued. "I eat right. I do all the necessary things. I exercise. I drink water. Why is my body failing me?"»

Only after consulting an endocrinologist did numerous blood tests confirm her suspicions. Since then, Palmer has been taking acne medication.
