The world of Leos is full of shifting power relations, fragile monarchies, and feline squabbles. This applies not only to «The Lion King» ; this extends to the savannas of Africa, where vibrant ecosystems showcase clashes between animals of all shapes and sizes.
A documentary series will be released soon that will detail the amazing world of a lion pride. «"Lion"» will premiere Wednesday, August 19, on the National Geographic Channel and then on Disney+ and Hulu on Thursday, August 20. The four-part series follows a male lion cub named Kio and his four-year journey through Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve, where he encounters chaos among the lion kings and lionesses.
Jon Favreau, film director «Iron Man» , «"Elf"» and a feature film «The Lion King» 2019, will bring his experience of creating blockbusters to the world of documentary filmmaking for the film «"Lion"» . Favreau will also serve as the documentary's executive producer, along with Mike Gunton, creative director of BBC Studios' Natural History Unit. Composer Hans Zimmer will once again write the music for Savannah, and he, Niccolò Pacella, and George Houston Warren of Bleeding Fingers Music will provide the soundtrack for Keough's journey, more than three decades after Zimmer composed the score for Disney's classic 1994 animated film.
Series «"Lion"» The series is released after more than four years of filming. The crew working on the series is the only documentary team to have spent over 1,400 filming days with a single pride, and the first to follow a lion cub's growth, providing incredibly detailed, previously unavailable natural history.
With so much effort, viewers will be able to see Kio and his family navigate very human moments like aging and growing up. In this exclusive excerpt from film "Lion"« , provided Den of Geek , we see Kyo emerging into adulthood; he hunts a brightly colored lizard across a rocky terrain, playfully jumping around before pouncing on the red and blue reptile.
«"It's just a lizard, but for Kyo it's a rite of passage," says O.J. Lynch, the narrator in character. lion and Mufasa in the Broadway adaptation of "« The Lion King» , while the young lion eats his prey.
After capturing the lizard, Kyo begins to be treated as more than just a little brother. He wrestles with his brothers, reflecting the very human experience of summer play with friends and older siblings. Zimmer's musical score swells in the background as Kyo battles his older brothers, finally becoming part of the pride and not just a child.
The rest of the series promises to explore the pride's adventures through the lens of human life. Kio will face many challenges as he grows from a cub to a powerful king, from royal rebellions to enormous animals and his own family. Favreau's experience crafting grand narratives, combined with the stunning cinematography for which National Geographic is renowned, creates an incredible story.
