Matt Brown, a cast member of the Discovery Channel show "Alaskan Wilderness," has died. He was 42.

On Saturday, his brother, Bear Brown, confirmed on social media that Matt had been found dead after authorities recovered his body from a river in Washington state.

«"A few hours ago, a body was found in the river and it was identified as Matt's," Bear said in a TikTok video.

Bear confirmed that it was their brother Noah who identified Matt.

«"Honestly, I never would have suspected him of harming himself. As I said, he struggled with addiction for a long time, and I was afraid he might, for example, die from an overdose. I didn't think he would harm himself.".

«"It appears the injury was self-inflicted," he continued. "Of course, it still needs to be examined by the coroner and other specialists, but I thought you should know it was him.".

As Page Six reports, on Wednesday, Okanogan County Sheriff's Office officers responded to a 911 call from a witness who reported seeing a man sitting in the shallows of the river. The caller later reported hearing a sound and finding the man face down in the water before being swept away by the current.

According to the publication, a firearm was found in the area where the man was last seen.

In a TikTok video, Bear urged fans to respect his family's privacy during this difficult time.

«"Please be respectful of the family, especially my mom [Ami Brown]," he said. "Please don't attack my mom. My mom cares deeply for Matt and always has.".

Matt starred in the series Alaskan Wilderness from 2014 to 2019, after which he left the project due to problems with drug addiction.

In a 2016 interview with People magazine, Matt spoke candidly about his drinking, saying, "I knew I could spiral down.".

«"At first I drank a little, and then I started drinking more and more," he told the publication. "Then I realized I was in trouble, and I didn't want to be one of those guys who drank.".

Matt Brown struggled with drug addiction for years.

«"It was incredibly nerve-wracking. It took a few days to gather the courage to tell my parents," he continued. "But their support was incredible. It instantly calmed me down and gave me confidence that I could succeed on this path.".

After completing the 35-day treatment course, Matt told the publication that he had a new outlook on life.

«"I've learned a lot about myself in these 35 days. I've turned my weakness into a strength," he said. "In life, we all get lost from time to time and have to find our way back.".

This is not the first time the Brown family has been struck by tragedy.
