Millie Bobby Brown is talking about motherhood without revealing the aspects of her daughter's life she wants to keep private.
The 22-year-old star of the series "« Very strange things »" Brown shared in the UNICEF series "My Journey to Parenthood" how she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, adopted a baby girl in the summer of 2025. As People reports, Brown said no one could have fully prepared her for the love she now experiences.
Brown said it was this love that surprised her the most.
Brown said she heard people talk about loving their children, but didn't understand the feeling until she became a mother herself.
«"People say they love their children," she said in a UNICEF video, as reported by People. "I don't understand how that can happen in my heart. I don't know how that feeling can be so strong. It's just incomprehensible.".
UNICEF reported that Brown shared her thoughts in honor of the start of Parenting Month in June. The organization described the video as part of a series of materials about the realities of raising children.
She still calls her mother for support.
Brown also described the uncertainty that comes with having a baby.
She said there are times when her daughter does something unusual, and she wonders if it's normal. During those moments, Brown calls her mother, Kelly Brown, for support.
«"She's like 911 to me," Brown said, according to People.
Brown said her mother-in-law, Dorothea Hurley, provides her with similar support when she can't connect with her own mother. She said it helps her greatly to hear someone calmly explain that what she's seeing is normal.
She and Jake Bongiovi live one day at a time.
Brown said she and Bongiovi have a simple motto as new parents.
«"My husband and I always say, 'Today was today, tomorrow is tomorrow, and let's just sleep,'" Brown said in a UNICEF video, as reported by People. "Just living one day at a time.".
The couple quietly married in May 2024. In August 2025, they announced they had adopted a daughter, writing at the time that they were beginning parenthood "in peace and privacy.".
Food became their common language of love.
Brown shared one small detail about her daughter without revealing her identity.
She said her daughter loves food, and Brown does too, so eating together has become one of their shared rituals.
«"We just like to sit and eat," Brown said, according to People. "She always wants to try what I'm eating, and I always eat what she's eating.".

Brown keeps her daughter's story private.
Brown made it clear that she did not want her daughter's name, character, or personal life to become public knowledge until the child was able to make her own decisions.
In an interview with British Vogue, Brown said she would not disclose these details because she had a duty to protect her daughter's story.
«"I have no right to intentionally put her in the spotlight against her will," Brown said, according to People magazine's account of the interview.
She also stated that she does not plan to reveal her daughter's name until her daughter reaches an age where she can make that decision for herself.
She wants her daughter to see how women support each other.
Brown also spoke about the responsibility of raising a daughter.
UNICEF quoted Brown as saying she wants her daughter to grow up knowing that "girls support girls, women succeed, women achieve their dreams.".
