Earlier this week, What's on Netflix reported the return of series "Formula 1: Survival"« with the ninth season.
While Netflix has not officially confirmed the news, several people associated with the production have indicated on their online profiles that Season 9 is in development and that work on the new season has been underway since the beginning of the year," What's on Netflix reports.
Netflix is reportedly moving away from plans to attract new audiences by continuing to air the popular series, hoping for success with new viewers.
What is F1: Academy?
Documentary series «F1: Academy» , created by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine, aims to highlight women's motorsports. The series premiered in May 2025, but has remained largely unnoticed since.
«"This seven-part series offers an unprecedented glimpse into the adrenaline, resilience, and emotional upheaval of race day and everything that leads up to it," Netflix describes the series. "At the center of it all is Susie Wolff, a former professional racing driver and now managing director of the Formula 1 Academy.".

Is the F1: Academy project coming to an end?
What's on Netflix speculated that the series had likely ended because it failed to generate high enough ratings.
«"In fact, through 2025, the series has accumulated 6 million hours of viewing, equivalent to 1.4 million views. By comparison, Season 7 has accumulated 89.4 million hours, equivalent to 12.3 million views," wrote What's on Netflix.
«"While we have confirmed that some preparatory work for a second season has indeed been taking place (and some fans have reportedly seen film crews at the first races of the 2025 season), we have serious doubts about the future of the series.".
Although it's not official, it appears the series will not return for a second season.
