Nick Pascual, an actor who starred in the series "How I Met Your Mother" and Zack Snyder's film "Rebel Moon," was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison. The sentence came after he was found guilty in May of attempted murder and other charges related to the 2024 stabbing of his ex-girlfriend, Ellie Shehorn, a Los Angeles makeup artist.
The jury found Pascual guilty of attempted murder, with the aggravating circumstance of causing grievous bodily harm during a domestic dispute involving the use of a weapon. He was also found guilty of three counts of assaulting a spouse or partner, one count of first-degree burglary, and one count of forcible rape related to an alleged incident that occurred a month before the stabbing.
Shehorn, who obtained a restraining order against Pascual and was reportedly stabbed more than 20 times during the attempt on her life, attended the sentencing on Tuesday, ABC Eyewitness News 7 reported.
«"As I lay on the floor in a pool of my own blood, I remember wondering if this was how my life was going to end," she said Tuesday at the San Fernando Courthouse. "I was terrified, I was in pain.".
«"You, whom I once trusted, decided that you could take my life," Shehorn continued.
Shehorn has worked as a special effects and makeup artist on a number of films, including the 2024 film adaptation of the musical "Mean Girls," two "Rebel Moon" films, and, most recently, the acclaimed horror film "Obsession." She previously testified as a court witness, bearing visible scars on her neck and arm.
«"I locked the door and he started punching holes in it and broke it down, and I just ran into the bathroom because I thought there was another lock on that door," Shehorn testified in court, according to ABC Eyewitness News 7.
In 2024, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said Pascual fled and was later apprehended at a U.S.-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas.
