The farm owner said that to achieve maximum accuracy in the characters' movements, the sheep, who are currently starring in a Hollywood film, had their mouths animated.
Elizabeth Miller, owner of Miller's Ark Animals in Hook, Hampshire, allowed the makers of the TV show Sheep Detectives to film around 40 of her animals.
She said she brought the "characters" of the farm's inhabitants to the directors' attention, but didn't initially realize they were going to make a film starring Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson.
Some of these sheep have previously appeared in Eastenders and the 2022 film Lovely Little Farm.
Elizabeth Miller founded the farm in 1991 and it has been used for other filming, including the BBC series Eastenders.
«"The producer and director came here, looked around and picked out the sheep they absolutely wanted to see in the film, which was really exciting and we were thrilled," Miller told BBC Radio Berkshire.
«"They walked away and said, 'Yes, you're the farm we're going to use for 30-40 characters.'".
«…I had no idea what kind of film it was, that it was so big and exciting.»
Other sheep used in the film included Nobby, a Norfolk Horn ram who lived in Williton, Somerset.
Miller added: "...when they said they wanted a smart, slightly goofy dog, we said this breed is very smart, and this one is a little goofy. And everything fell into place.".
«"The first phase of filming involved a massive number of cameras. They bought a special dome from Pinewood Studios with hundreds of cameras to capture every part of the sheep.".
«"They then videotaped themselves individually… to see how their mouths moved.".
«"It was incredible how detailed they were in recreating the movements and behaviour of the sheep.".
Jackman, who played Farmer George in the film, did not visit the farm, but later met his furry co-stars.
«"He was really charming and seemed very comfortable around the sheep, which was nice to see," Miller added.
