Dave Grohl joined Sepultura on stage in Los Angeles to play on the song Kaiowas Brazilian group, released in 1993.
The Foo Fighters frontman, a longtime Sepultura fan, made a surprise appearance on stage at the Wiltern Theatre on Friday, May 29, mid-show to add percussion to a song that was originally included on the album. Chaos AD .
Grohl has often spoken of his love for Sepultura, even suggesting that the band was once considered to open for Nirvana.
«One of my favorite heavy metal bands of all time is from Brazil. It’s a band called Sepultura,» James Corden said during an appearance on his TV show in 2016. «They’re amazing, but one of the crazy things they did was release an album called Roots» .
«"But they incorporated crazy Brazilian instruments into some of the heaviest music you've ever heard. It was a game-changer in a way. It was incredibly heavy.".
In 2017, Grohl told Mojo magazine how he discovered the band: "When they first played in Seattle, they were just ferocious. They didn't have that polished heavy metal aesthetic; there were dreadlocks everywhere, and the guitars were tuned to Z.".

The Los Angeles concert was the final show on the American leg of Sepultura's farewell tour, which will conclude on November 7, 2026, at the Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu in São Paulo, Brazil.
In an interview with the magazine Classic Rock In 2024, Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kiser spoke about the reasons why he decided to disband the band after this tour.
«"There were several factors, including our 40th anniversary," he said. "Having lived through the pandemic gave us a new perspective, and then two years ago, my wife passed away from cancer.".
«"It made me realize that death can open up new possibilities for life. Live in the present, there may be no tomorrow. Besides, we made a great album [ Quadra , [2020], so why not end on a high note? Death can be beautiful.".
