Nephew King Charles , Peter Phillips , is planning to walk down the aisle with his fiancée this weekend, Harriet Sperling .
However, their future marriage is now being compared to that of Charles and Queen Camilla, particularly in regards to how their blended family might adapt to new circumstances.
Charles's youngest son, Prince Harry , is expected to skip the wedding amid reports that his relationship with Peter has deteriorated over the years. A royal expert also suggested that Harry feels "hurt" by this snub and blames his estranged brother, Prince William.
Other royals reportedly set to miss the wedding include former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Peter Phillips' marriage draws parallels with the royal family.
History has a peculiar way of repeating itself in the royal family. Ahead of the wedding of Princess Anne's son, Peter Phillips, to Harriet Spurling, royal commentators are drawing striking parallels with the story of Charles and Camilla, one of the most talked-about romances in modern monarchical history.
Like Charles and his wife before their wedding, Peter and Harriet have children from previous marriages. Peter is the father of daughters Isla and Savannah with his ex-wife, Autumn Kelly, and Harriet has a 13-year-old daughter, Georgina Sperling, with her ex-husband, Antonio St. John Sperling.
All three children are said to get along well with each other and reportedly even played a role in their parents' marriage, as Peter and Harriet are believed to have met at a sporting event the girls attended.
They also made their first public appearance together on Easter Sunday at St George's Chapel, Windsor, last April.
Why the King Charles comparison has its limitations
However, according to The Telegraph's royal editor Hannah Furness, Peter and Harriet's mixed household is unlikely to be entirely similar to Charles and Camilla's.
Unlike Peter and Autumn's divorce, which was "almost scandal-free," Charles's marriage to Princess Diana was marred by allegations of Camilla's infidelity and years of public scrutiny.
Furness also noted in a newsletter titled "Your Royal Appointment" that William and Harry had not had any significant contact with Camilla's children, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles.
«"While other royal children were too old, or their broken marriages too complicated, for them to grow up together, the Phillips-Spurling family was able to become a true blended family," Furness wrote.
The royal editor added that Princess Anne's second marriage to Sir Tim Laurence was different because he "had no children to join young Peter and Zara.".

Several members of the royal family are expected to attend the wedding, but Harry, Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are reportedly absent as they have not received invitations.
The source claims the Duke of Sussex, who was once close to Peter, has become estranged from him after stepping back from royal duties and moving abroad with his wife Meghan Markle.
«"Peter and Harry haven't spoken for a few years and just lost touch, so he wasn't invited," a source told Hello! Magazine.
Andrew and Sarah's absence from the royal family list is reportedly due to the controversy surrounding their links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which contributed to their exclusion from royal life.
«"If Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson were invited, it was likely deemed inappropriate. This is a special day for Peter and Harriet, and their presence would obviously detract from the overall celebration," the source explained.

Meanwhile, according to media reports, Harry is unhappy about being "ignored" at Peter's wedding and blames his brother William for the situation.
According to Page Six, royal commentator Emily Nash said that while Peter may have cut Harry out of his company because they had grown apart, the groom-to-be remains close to William and is protective of the relationship.
Over the years, Peter remained a stable figure in the royal family and often acted as a calming factor during times of tension in the palace.
Nash also suggested that excluding Harry from the guest list could help ensure Peter and Harriet's wedding is not overshadowed by wider royal scandals.
Prince Harry reportedly believes William influenced the guest list.

According to The Blast, Harry allegedly believes that William's close relationship with Peter was one of the main reasons he was not included on the guest list, believing that this could not have happened without outside pressure.
A source claims Harry feels William "pressured Peter to take sides," especially considering he expected an invitation, as he and Peter were once very close. The Duke of Sussex reportedly doesn't entirely blame Peter for the situation, as he understands his place in the royal family and William's influence on royal affairs. However, he is rumored to be "hurt" by the situation.
