Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman have landed roles in a Disney+ series similar to Welcome to Wrexham for their sailing team.

Disney+ has greenlit a new documentary series from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mack, focusing on the Australian sailing team of Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Reynolds and Jackman, known as Deadpool and Wolverine (from the film «Deadpool and Wolverine »), are co-owners of the Bonds Flying Roos SailGP racing team. The series will follow the Flying Roos "throughout a global racing season characterized by speed, pressure, and high stakes," according to a press release, "a stadium-style championship where identical 50-foot catamarans compete on coastal courses at speeds of up to 100 km/h.".

SailGP, officially known as the Rolex SailGP Championship, is (essentially) a sailing racing league. The Australian team, owned by an X-Men superhero (Jackman) and an X-Men ally (Reynolds), is led by pilot and CEO Tom Slingsby, an Olympic gold medalist, America's Cup winner, and three-time SailGP champion.

The Disney+ documentary series is an Australian original produced by Reynolds' Maximum Effort company. Eureka Productions, in partnership with SailGP and the Bonds Flying Roos team, is serving as director and showrunner, with Brent Hodge, co-chairman of Wrexham Football Club and Welcome to Executive Producer from Wrexham Rob Mack will serve as executive producer through his company, More Better Productions. The upcoming series will be available exclusively on Disney+ worldwide, and on Disney+ and Hulu in the US.
