Sarah Sherman really hopes Lorne Michaels doesn't see this.
Star Saturday Night Live became the last guest of the new short series The Rundown , in which she discussed the "weird" sketches that appear at the end of each episode. SNL . Sherman revealed that she once lied to get a sketch like this past Michaels and the crew, admitting she was practically blind during the "Eyes" sketch in Season 48.
«"I couldn't really see anything because of these plastic eyes," she admitted. "I told everyone I could, but they wouldn't let me do this drawing if I couldn't see anything. There was a hole in the white part of the plastic eye, and in the black part too, so I could only see them when they lined up perfectly. But the whole joke of the drawing is that they move like crazy.".
Sherman added, "So don't tell Lorne I memorized everything so I could do that scene.".
In an October 2022 sketch, Sherman played Janine, a woman upset that no one noticed she'd had her eyes replaced. The problem is, all her coworkers at the office noticed the dramatic changes and decided to simply ignore it. Looking back, given her poor eyesight, Sherman's performance seems even more impressive, especially considering the amount of movement required of her.
Sherman said she always thinks about props and her character's appearance when writing scripts for SNL , but it's often these details that make her realize the sketch won't air.
«"Many times I've found myself in the [final] slot, wearing a wig, a costume, waiting to see if he'll still be in the program," she said. "And then I feel my hairdresser's hands starting to take my wig off. That's when I know it's been cut.".

You always want to do a really big, funny sketch with your friends, where everything just works out and doesn't feel like a big deal.".
