After a recent trip to Alaska as part of the Today program , Dylan Dreyer is leaving New York to work on another exciting project.
Dreyer is part of the team Today since 2012 and has hosted the third hour of the program since 2019. That same year, Dreyer launched on NBC the program "Earth Odyssey with Dylan Dreyer"« , in which a meteorologist travels the world exploring the relationship between humans and local wildlife.
On Saturday, August 15, Dreyer announced in an Instagram post that the series would return for a ninth season. "Earth Odyssey Season 9!!!!!" she captioned the post. "I can't believe how long you've supported this show! Our amazing team can't wait for the new season! @nbcearthodyssey @themoreyouknow @nbc.".
The publication featured several photographs from the filming of the new season of the series. «Earth Odyssey» featuring Dreyer and the film crew. Fans shared their excitement about the return of Season 9 in the comments, including one user who wrote, "I love your show. We record it, and then after a football game, we shower, sit down, and watch it. I absolutely love it! Keep up the good work.".

The Earth Odyssey series« Returned for an eighth season in November 2025. New episodes continue to air Saturdays at 10:30 a.m./9:30 CT on NBC. Neither NBC nor Dreyer have yet confirmed a premiere date for season 9.

Dreyer was absent from Studio 1A of the program Today All last week, as Craig Melvin reported, she was on a business trip. On Thursday, August 13, Dreyer reported live from Ketchikan, Alaska, to report on how marine mammal scientists are collaborating with MSC Cruises to investigate whale strikes in the US and help ship crews navigate whale-infested waters more effectively.
On Thursday, she shared several picturesque photos from the trip on Instagram. "What a magical experience it was in Ketchikan, Alaska. When your coworkers are your true friends, it makes everything even more special!" she captioned the post. "I learned so much about humpback whales, and @team_orca_'s research with @msccruisesofficial is so important to their safety. I hope you saw my segment on the @todayshow this morning!
