Seth Meyers launched into a pompous and hilariously sarcastic defense of President Donald Trump, while simultaneously showing a collection of videos of the president appearing to fall asleep during public events.
«"If we know anything about Trump, it's that he's a great judge of character," Myers began his routine on Thursday's "Late Night" mockingly, as footage of Trump repeatedly closing his eyes played on the screen.
«"He's always paying close attention to the habits and qualities of those around him," Myers continued. "We've all seen him in meetings—he's intensely focused, looking everyone in the eye, carefully analyzing every word and gesture, assessing the true colors of the men and women who will soon be fired and who make up his administration.".

The comedian then stepped up his humorous defense.
«"Of course, you think he's asleep," he said, "but everyone looks asleep when you're SO awake!"»
Myers later offered another ironic explanation for why Trump appeared to have fallen asleep, something the White House has repeatedly denied.
«"The thing is, that's exactly what Trump does in these meetings," Myers said. "He's thinking so hard that it drains his eyelids. He doesn't sleep. He doesn't sleep.".
