June 3 (UPI) -- Actor Shia LaBeouf pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of battery related to a brawl at the Mardi Gras carnival in New Orleans, his lawyer said.
As part of a plea deal on three misdemeanor counts, LaBeouf was sentenced to two years of probation, alcohol rehabilitation, empathy training, and anger management courses, The Guardian reports.
«"The District Attorney's Office's investigation has confirmed exactly what Shia LaBeouf has said from the beginning: this was nothing more than a bar fight during Mardi Gras," LaBeouf's attorney, Sarah Chervinsky, said in a statement to WDSU-TV in New Orleans.
«"He came to court willing to take responsibility, and he did.".
In February, police arrested LaBeouf after he was escorted out of a bar and then returned, where he displayed aggressive behavior. He was accused of punching two men. At the time, he denied any wrongdoing or drinking alcohol.
LaBeouf was also accused of using homophobic slurs against the victims, but all hate crime charges were dismissed, WDSU reported.
