With the musical receiving a whopping twelve Tony Award nominations and its 40th anniversary fast approaching, now's the perfect time to revisit The Lost Boys—so why not do it with us? As part of our FANGORIA Staff Picks program, viewers can head to their local Regal Cinemas to see the classic '80s vampire film on the big screen this month, one night only. (And we mean one night. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a vampire film, would it?)
In The Lost Boys, starring Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Corey Feldman, director Joel Schumacher created a cult vampire classic, fusing the best '80s aesthetics for a thrilling adventure on the California coast. The film also stars Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, and Jami Gertz. Two teenage brothers find themselves stranded on a vampire-infested boardwalk, one half-turned into a vampire, and the other—his own brother, a damn vampire parasite!—must save the entire town of Santa Carla from leather-clad, punk-inspired monsters.
If you somehow haven't seen one of the best vampire films of the last fifty years, what better way to experience the '80s than on the big screen? There you'll be able to appreciate its stunning style firsthand and enjoy the iconic soundtrack, which includes songs by INXS, Roger Daltrey, and Echo & the Bunnymen. Plus, what better way to be terrified of vampires than in the darkness they inhabit?

And if you've already seen the film—and I'm guessing you have, dear FANGORIA reader, otherwise why would you be here?—then there's no better place to watch a horror film than on the big screen, surrounded by other filmgoers. You'll be able to appreciate Vee Neel's incredible makeup effects and scrutinize every gory detail, as well as admire Tim Capello playing the saxophone shirtless on the Santa Carla promenade. A little nostalgia—it's great, right?
As part of the FANGORIA Staff Picks program, viewers also receive special privileges when they head to their nearest Regal theater to join the fun. Every ticket to a FANGORIA-selected movie comes with a free embroidered patch inspired by the movie of the month: this month, it's themed around worms—specifically, the Chinese instant noodles David and the gang eat in their underground lair. (Just… watch out for the maggots, okay?)
If you arrive early—and you should, because who wants to miss the trailers?—you'll also enjoy a special preview screening from the FANGORIA staff. This is easy if you're a Regal Unlimited member, as the Staff Picks program is included with your subscription, making your monthly horror movie viewing ritual that much easier. But even if you're not an Unlimited member, you still have perks: Regal Crown Club members can get small popcorn and a drink for $10 with your ticket, so you can snack while watching Joel Schumacher's classic zombie flick.
The Lost Boys will be shown in Regal Cinemas nationwide for one night only, June 13. Tickets are available for purchase now on the cinema chain's website.
