Swift announced the releases on her Instagram story, sharing links to both versions of the song on Apple Music. The tracks are also available for purchase individually for 99 cents each on her website.
The original studio version of the song "I Knew It, I Knew You" was released on Friday (June 5) and will be included in the soundtrack to the animated film "« Toy Story 5» . The fifth installment of the animated franchise is scheduled to premiere on June 19, and the soundtrack will be released on the same day.
On June 1, Swift officially announced that her song "I Knew It, I Knew You" would be featured on the soundtrack to the cartoon "Toy Story 5"« , and will also offer physical copies of the song on its website. The acoustic and piano versions were previously only available as CD singles.
The song, written from Jessie's perspective, explores cherished memories with Woody and rekindled romance with Buzz Lightyear as the toys embark on new adventures together.
«"Writing this song was both a musical departure and a homecoming for me. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge, but it also felt completely natural," Swift wrote on X. "And being a fan of @toystory from age 5 until now... it's an adventure I plan to be on until infinity and beyond.".
“I Knew It, I Knew You” also marks another collaboration between Swift and her longtime producer Jack Antonoff.
Director and screenwriter «Toy Story 5» Andrew Stanton praised the collaboration, saying in a statement: "It's incredible how meaningful it was for us to have Taylor write and perform this song.".
The film reunites franchise stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, with Joan Cusack returning as Jessie. This time, the beloved toys face a new challenge: technology and tablets compete for the attention of today's kids.
