According to DCEU co-CEO Peter Safran, a Justice League reboot in the DCEU won't happen anytime soon. James Gunn's cinematic universe isn't even two years old yet, but more than a dozen Justice League members are already being discussed, and many are eagerly awaiting the studio's first Justice League-style crossover with The Avengers. It's been nearly nine years since the release of the DCEU's disastrous Justice League in 2017, followed four years later by Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max, which received a much more positive reception.
DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran attended a Supergirl fan event in Brazil and spoke with Good Nerd, who asked him when the Justice League reboot would finally be released in the DC Universe. Although Safran noted that they understand that «"We are ultimately moving in that direction,", He made it clear that the team is focused on «"those projects that have already been announced"» :
«"We know that you will eventually move in that direction, but we are only talking about the projects that we have already announced.".
This has dampened fans' fervent hopes for a Justice League reunion in cinemas. One of the leading actors in the DC Universe explained that they «"they are in no hurry"» unite the seven and «"they want to do it well.".
«"As for what's next [in the upcoming DCEU], we'll talk about that when the time comes. But for us, as with everything else, it's really important to get the scripts right, get the story right. We're in no rush, we want to do it right, we want to do it well.".
Safran's comments marked the first official statement from DC Studios executives on the status of the Justice League reboot. Although Gunn has openly stated that «"There is no Justice League in the DC Cinematic Universe yet.", Since the band Justice Gang currently fills that void, he has never spoken directly about a potential reboot project.

Many fans are convinced that the 2027 film "Man of Tomorrow" is a Justice League film in disguise. The DCEU sequel already has three key members of the team, including Superman played by David Corenswet, Hawkgirl played by Isabella Merced, and John Stewart played by Aaron Pierre, but that's not enough to call it a "Justice League.".
While there were rumors that Andor star Adria Arjona was secretly playing Wonder Woman in Man of Tomorrow, and that Gunn might have already cast an actor to play DC's Martian Man, that still wouldn't be enough to call it Justice League.
In past adaptations, characters like Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, and Aquaman have often been replaced by other DC heroes, but Batman and a version of the Flash are generally considered essential members of the founding team.
Peter Safran and DC Studios will need these heroes before they can finally consider a proper Justice League reboot, and that's likely still a long way off. The upcoming Wonder Woman reboot won't be ready until at least 2028, The Brave and the Bold likely won't arrive until 2029, and there's still no indication when The Flash or Aquaman will appear.
Ideally, the DC Universe won't be ready to assemble the Justice League in its own reboot until at least 2030. By then, ten years will have passed since Zack Snyder's Justice League premiered on HBO Max, and hopefully that will be enough time for fans to be ready for a new interpretation.
However, DC Studios has made it clear that it's in no rush to assemble a Justice League, as the focus right now is on worldbuilding, introducing key characters, telling compelling stories, and expanding the audience. Only when all these elements fall into place will a Justice League film likely become a priority.
Naturally, fans will eagerly await whether Gunn will pursue the Justice League Unlimited path, gathering all the major superheroes from his DC universe, or stick with a smaller cast of seven. Perhaps "Man of Tomorrow" will lay the groundwork for Superman to assemble a new team that will one day become the Justice League, and perhaps offer some clues about who will join it.
