«"I don't think any of us knew the movie was going to be released in theaters when we were asked to be in it," says Brooke Lynn Hytes.
When the show's participants RuPaul ‘'s Drag Race, heading project Stop! That! Train!, When they joined this comedy-disaster, they had no idea that they would be heading straight to cinemas around the world.
«"I don't think any of us knew the film was going to be released in theaters when we were asked to do it," the presenter says. Canadian show Drag Race Brooke Lynn Hytes spoke at a panel discussion on May 27 at People Inc. in New York City, hosted by OUTspoken. Believing the feature film (in theaters June 12) would be for the production company's streaming platform, Drag Race World of Wonder, she recalled auditioning for the role, thinking, "Okay, sure, that's cool. Why not?"«

Following the film's screening, the discussion, moderated by PEOPLE Senior Film Editor Nigel Smith, also featured Shankman and the lead cast members of RuPaul's Emmy-winning drag competition series: Brooke, Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Simone, and Marcia Marcia Marcia.
«"When I started talking to Adam and Jujubee, and we were building this world we were going to live in, I was like, 'Oh, shit, this is real!'" Ginger recalls. "This is massive. This is going to be way bigger than any of us imagined.".
«"Stop this train!"» — the first full-length film from the "Drag Race" universe. "I don't know why it took them so long," jokes 61-year-old Shankman, noting that he's known 65-year-old RuPaul since 1994. "Christina Friel and Connor Wright wrote a really funny script," he says, when asked about the project's origins.
«We also shot it in 19 days,» the director says. «Hairspray» . "Almost all the cameos were filmed in half a day. I think I spent maybe two hours on each musical number. So it was quite an unusual, DIY project.".

In the film, Jinger and Jujubee play Tess and DeeDee, respectively, flight attendants on the "Glamazon Express" who encounter a chaotic "Storm Extravaganza" that, according to the official synopsis, "threatens to derail the high-speed train and crash into Los Angeles." Brooke, Symone, and Marcia play first-class flight attendants, while RuPaul plays U.S. President Judy Gagwell. The all-star cast of cameos includes Latrice Royale, Monet X Change, Rachel Bloom, Matt Rogers, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michelle Visage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Raven-Symoné, Chris Parnell, Charo, Bryan Jordan Alvarez, Natasha Leggero, Lisa Rinna, and Joel McHale. .
«I’m very proud of us,» Jujube notes. «"Stop this train!"» , "," says the Queen, "we will give the world a lot of love. And even those who fear us may fall in love with us." And, she jokes, "watch our second film, «"Start this train! »

«"This kind of representation is so important right now, especially in such a fun, silly, and ridiculous way," Ginger agrees. "All the clichés in this movie are very convenient for people... But there's a subtext to it that's connected to drag culture, and I think that will be an eye-opener for a lot of people.".
«"And seeing it all come to an end was just incredibly cool," Marcia adds. "I'm a huge movie fan, an AMC star. I watch a lot of movies, so it was this surreal moment where I thought, 'Oh my god, I'm starring in something I love to watch,' and it was really, really special.".

«I was sitting there thinking, „Look at us, we just made a movie, baby,“» Simone recalls of her first viewing of the film at the world premiere in Los Angeles. “I felt incredibly proud. I was thinking, ‘We actually did this in 19 days. We came together, we made a movie, we supported each other, we relied on each other, and we, uh, made… Can I swear? We made a damn great movie.’”.

Shankman says he's proud of his "heroic" cast, noting the "extra layer" of filming the movie in special glamour and makeup. "I've been in character myself—it's painful," he jokes. "Watching them transform and fit into this role so gracefully and effortlessly, during a time when they're being attacked daily, their jobs are being shut down left and right, they're being subjected to new and horrific forms of discrimination... These guys just bring joy to the world and make people laugh.".
The film "Stop This Train!"« will be released in cinemas on June 12.
