The show's host Today masterfully performed the Shui ritual - an Australian ritual in which beer is poured into a shoe and drunk from it - on live television after film stars «Deadpool and Wolverine» did this during a trip to Australia.
«"They became co-owners of an Australian sailing team, which is currently filming a new reality series about their journey," Daly said during Wednesday's broadcast. "And while they were in Australia, Hugh's homeland, the new team convinced them to take part in a sacred Australian tradition called 'Shoey.'".
Jackman shared a video of himself and Reynolds performing the stunt, noting in the caption that he hadn't done a "shuey" in 35 years. "Drink responsibly," he told the yachting crew at the end of the video.

Daly then asked his co-hosts if they'd ever done a "shoe shove" (the traditional gesture of throwing shoes around in a shoe). Before they could respond, he untied his shoelace and placed it on his lap, preparing for the unusual stunt. Savannah Guthrie tried to hand him coffee to pour into his shoe, but Daly had already prepared himself, pulling a beer from his jacket pocket.
Guthrie, Jenna Bush Hager, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones cheered him on, while Al Roker jokingly brushed off the foul odor emanating from his boot. Daley unscrewed the cap of a beer bottle, poured it into his boot, and took a long swig, standing for effect.
Program participants Today were shocked and excited, and Daley poured some more of his beer into the shoe, insisting on making another "Shuey" just for fun.
Later, when everyone had gathered in the building Today Show Plaza, Daley suggested a different take on the Shuey. "Next time, I'll drink it out of Savannah's shoe and call it a 'Chewy,' like Jimmy Choo shoes. So I'll make both a 'Shewy' and a 'Chewy,'" he joked.
«"You know what I have to do to stay in the company of these wonderful, uncompromising journalists? Some interview presidents, others interview Shuya and Chuya," Daley remarked. "You have to earn a living, that's all.".

Daley is far from the first celebrity to perform a "shoey" (the traditional Australian gesture of drinking from a sneaker). Harry Styles boldly drank from a sneaker during a concert in Australia in 2023. "It's one of the most disgusting traditions I've ever seen," he said at the time, expressing approval rather than disapproval.
