Matt Brown's half-sister has spoken out following the Brown family's initial condolences following his death. Twyla Byars, Billy Brown's daughter from a previous marriage, has spoken out about her brother's death and why she delayed reporting it.
Byars appeared on season 5 of the reality show Alaskan Wilderness« , which is available to watch with an HBO Max subscription. She shared a few short photos of herself with Matt and added a caption explaining why she hadn't done this sooner:
I want to pay tribute to my little brother and his life, but my sense of self-importance slightly outweighs that. Therefore, this will be my last message for now. Rest in peace, little brother.
It's difficult to say exactly what Byars meant by "selfish approach," and whether she was speaking solely about herself or others posting condolences. She may have been referring to her half-siblings, some of whom had strained relationships with Matt Brown long before his death.
