Fans were shocked when it became known that the participant British show Love Island George Knight left the villa just days after becoming the first bombshell of the ITV2 series - and now he explains what happened.
In an Instagram post on June 5, George wrote, "Family always comes first. Leaving the @loveisland villa was a decision made to be with my family. Out of respect for them, I'd prefer not to go into detail.".
He added: "Thank you to everyone who wrote kind words and expressed support! It really means a lot to me 🫶🏻❤️.".
He attached a photo of himself and his sister Emily, who commented: "Love you George ❤️.".
George joined the show at the end of episode 1, where he and fellow contestant Yasmin were given a secret task by host Maya Jama: choose one guy and one girl to be voted out of the villa the following day.
Then, just days later, an ITV spokesperson confirmed that George had decided to leave the show, stating The Sun : «"For personal reasons, George left the villa Love Island ».
George, originally from Winchester, met Robin and Mika while at the villa. In the third episode, he was seen kissing Robin on the terrace just minutes after a rather flirtatious conversation with Mika. Then, at the end of the episode, George and Yasmin had to announce their decision on who they would expel from the villa.
After much deliberation, the couple announced they had decided to split from Ellie and Samraj. However, while George's time in the villa has come to an end, Ellie and Samraj will return in episode 4, which will air on Hulu and Disney+ in the US on June 6.
