Hannah Harper's Grand Ole Opry debut on June 2 featured a very special guest: her fellow finalist American Idol Jordan McCullough! Three weeks after finishing first and second on the 24th season of the singing competition, they reunited in Nashville.
Carrie Underwood also performed on the night of Harper's debut on June 2, and it was she who shared photos of the finalists' touching reunion. "So proud of these two!" she captioned a photo of herself with the rising stars on her Instagram story. McCullough reposted the photo and wrote, "Forever grateful!!"«
During her Opry debut, Harper was fortunate to share a special moment on stage with Underwood when they performed Harper's original song "String Cheese" together. It was the song she auditioned for American Idol , and Underwood immediately connected with the lyrics, so it was a performance that came full circle.
Meanwhile, McCullough will make her Grand Ole Opry debut later this month on June 18.
The worship leader recently told TV Insider that he is excited to begin working on new music and that he wrote it while he was in Los Angeles to participate in Idol show . After he had previously auditioned for The Voice and without receiving any approval, the road to this moment was long and difficult for McCullough.
«I think for the first time [on The Voice show "I was just trying to prove myself, to prove that I'm worthy of being in this room," he shared. "This time, you're either going to like it or you're not, and I don't have to prove anything to anyone. I know God loves me, and I love Him, and He gave me this opportunity, so I'm just going to take advantage of it.".
As for Harper, the Opry performance was just the beginning of her months-long tour, which will last throughout the summer and fall. Both McCullough and Harper will also perform at the pre-CMA Fest event, along with another alum. Idol in Nashville on June 3.
