Clifford Odets's famous 1935 drama "« "Rise and Shine!"» will be revived on Broadway this winter by the Manhattan Theatre Club, starring Tony Award winner Danny Burstein ( «"Moulin Rouge!", "Marjorie Prime"» ), Jessica Hecht ( «Eureka Day» ) and Jeremy Shamos ( «"Clyborne Park," "Only Murders in the Building" »).
Musical «"Awake and Sing!"» , produced as part of MTC's 2026-27 Broadway season, will begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in December and open in January 2027.

MTC announced the start of production today. Additional cast and crew details will be announced later.
The director will be Tyne Rafaeli, who staged the successful Off-Broadway play "« Data"» . The revival is produced by Brian and Dayna Lee, and Nicole Kramer and Stephanie Kramer.
Official synopsis: "The 1930s Bronx is a fiery furnace. New ideas clash with old against the backdrop of the poverty and dashed hopes of the Great Depression. Three generations of the Berger family, trapped in their cramped apartment, try to realize different visions of the American dream.".

Play «"Rise and Shine!"» First performed on Broadway in 1935 by the Group Theatre, Odets's play helped establish him as a significant figure in American theater. The play was last performed on Broadway in 2006, in a production starring Mark Ruffalo, Lauren Ambrose, Pablo Schreiber, Ben Gazzara, and others.
MTC's previously announced 2026-2027 productions include a Broadway premiere plays "Schoolgirls, or African Wicked Girls"« Jocelyn Biot in Whitney White's world premiere «Montauk» David Hare starring Laura Linney, directed by Daniel Sullivan; and the play's American premiere «"Unbelievers »"Nick Payne, directed by Knud Adams.
