While some fans love the sheer look, others argue it can be boring. Last year, one Reddit user suggested in a popular post that many sheer outfits "rely solely on the skin underneath to look good," which, in their opinion, "offers nothing in terms of innovation, materials, or construction.".

Many internet users are convinced that Joey King caused a real sensation with her look on the red carpet at the opening of the exhibition "Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon" at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures last week.

Many agreed that Joey's dress was a "fresh" take on the sheer trend. "Normally I'd think a dress like this would resemble lingerie, but this time it's a smart choice. It's sophisticated and sexy, yet playful at the same time. I love it," one user wrote, while another described the dress as "exquisite.".
