The 23-year-old Grammy Award-winning singer addressed past rumors of a breakup with fellow singer Taylor Swift in an interview with the New York Times' "Popcast" podcast on Thursday, May 28.
The couple recently made headlines after both Rodrigo and Swift, 36, reportedly attended a Paul McCartney concert in Los Angeles in March.
«"I don't really think about it," Rodrigo told hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli. "I think it's inevitable, and it's common.".
Rodrigo, who became a musical sensation as a teenager with her multi-platinum album "Sour," has cited Swift as her main inspiration, even using a sample from the song "New Year's Day" from her album "Reputation" in her song "1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back.".

Swift supported Rodrigo early in his career, following the release of his debut single, "Drivers License." However, rumors swirled of a rift between the pop stars after Swift was credited on Rodrigo's 2021 hit, "Deja Vu.".
Along with Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent, Swift received retrospective credit as a co-writer on Rodrigo's song in July 2021, after Rodrigo was inspired by the chant-like vocals in the bridge of Swift's track "Cruel Summer.".

Rumors of a possible feud flared after the release of Rodrigo's second album, "Guts," in 2023. Many fans claimed that the album's lead single, "Vampire," which describes Rodrigo's feelings about being dumped by a fame-hungry lover, was actually about her friendship with Swift.
