Netflix is bringing back Demon Hunter Dante for the third and final time: the fan-favorite anime series Devil May Cry extended for the final season.
Created by showrunner Adi Shankar ( «Captain Laserhawk: Blood Dragon Remix» ) and the animation studio Mir ( «"The Legend of Korra"» ), animated series Devil May Cry voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch (who voices Nero in the Capcom games) as the iconic Dante, Robbie Daymond ( «Critical Role» ) as Virgil and Scout Taylor-Compton (« Halloween Rob Zombie") as Lady.
In a new statement, Shankar hints that we should have been expecting a third and final season from the very beginning:
For those of you who've been paying close attention to the episode titles, I've been showing you the structure all along. It's always been Dante's Divine Comedy, complete with guns and a red cloak. Season one was called "Inferno." Season two was "Purgatory." Season three will be "Paradise." These three seasons make up the "Force Saga." From the very beginning, the "Force Saga" was conceived as a film trilogy disguised as a television series.
One of Capcom's most successful gaming franchises (emerging after the failure of the game Resident Evil ), Devil May Cry, debuted in 2001 and spawned six main installments, selling over 32 million copies worldwide. An anime series was also released in 2007. Devil May Cry: The Animated Series . The Netflix series has become a hit: the first season has garnered 21.7 million views by 2025, and the second season has already garnered 6.4 million views in just two weeks.
