"I truly understand how you feel... and that's why I decided to apologize publicly because the disrespect was made public," Cardi B wrote in her post. "In that conversation, I didn't even mean to call you that, I didn't mean to hurt you... There's a difference between what I said and what I meant," the 33-year-old rapper said, referencing a leaked conversation from September last year in which Cardi B called Latto a "slut.".
The singer, known for her hit "Bodak Yellow," even stated that "it was a heated conversation, and I let it out." She then explained the reason for her harsh comment, saying she was "eight months pregnant" and had just released her album, "and was extremely shocked and emotional" when the phone call erupted. However, she understands that this is not an "excuse.".
The rapper, known for her hit "Up," added that she "truly regretted what happened" and insisted that she repeatedly tried to contact her in "2025 and 2026" after the conversation was leaked. "I spoke to your manager, your sister, and even messaged you directly to take full responsibility," Cardi B said, adding that she "always loved and respected" her and "always wanted to make things right" in her relationship with the rapper.
However, seeing how things turned out, Cardi B said, "For this to work out, we both need to do things differently... I wanted to connect with you, but you wanted to put it on your album."
