Alexa Demie has denied rumors that she plans to retire from acting. Since filming began on the third and final season of the HBO drama Euphoria, speculation has swirled online that the actress, who plays Maddie Perez, plans to leave Hollywood immediately after the series concludes.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Sunday, Alexa, when asked about the rumors, insisted that she has no plans to retire from acting.
«"Maybe we should just live with it?" she chuckled, looking into the outlet.
Alexa also emphasized that she prefers a quiet life and has learned to take on opportunities that truly interest her.
«"Have you ever considered that I don't want this?" the 35-year-old woman continued. "People really do take away your choice. Where did my choice go? I like my life the way it is, and I wouldn't change a thing.".
Alexa also noted that she is pleased with the balance she has achieved in her career.
«"If I hadn't had this experience, I'd be hiding out there like (reclusive Irish artist) Enya," she smiled, gesturing toward the hills. "But this life is always with me, and I realize I can do both.".
Meanwhile, Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson dismissed the idea of Alexa pursuing feature film projects, as have other cast members including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
«"I think Alexa does whatever she wants, and if she doesn't have something, it's because she doesn't want it. I think she's completely satisfied with her life," he added.
The season three finale aired on HBO on Sunday night.
